Characteristics

Dioicous, whitish green to somewhat brownish, of the same size as the European G. concinnatum. Leaves loosely imbricate-squarrose, erecto-patent, margin frequently hyaline, bilobed to 1/3, lobes ± acute, sinus acute, median margin of the lobes frequently somewhat recurvated. Cells regularly placed in rows, rectangular-quadrate, about 12 x 20 µ, walls thick, notrigones, cuticle smooth. Female organ terminal. Bracts in several pairs, larger than the leaves, except the innermost ones, irregularly dentate. Perianth lacking.
