Characteristics

Subsucculent herb ± 45 cm high; stems glabrous.. Basal leaves petiolate, blade elliptic or ovate-elliptic, 4–5 cm long, 2–2.5 cm wide, cuneate into petiole at the base, margins remotely dentate, apex obtuse to subacute, shortly apiculate, glabrous; petiole 1.5–3 cm long, bearing a few hairs; upper leaves sessile, oblanceolate, coarsely serrate, with a few narrow pinnately arranged lobes at the base.. Capitula discoid, 10–12 in terminal corymbs; stalks of individual capitula glandular-hairy, 1.5–4.5 cm long; bracts linear-lanceolate, glandular; involucre 12–13 mm long, 7 mm in diameter; bracts of calyculus 8–10, oblanceolate, ciliate, lax, 5–6 mm long; phyllaries c. 13, glabrous, 12–13 mm long.. Ray florets absent; disc florets yellow; corolla ± 13 mm long, tube ± 12 mm long, lobes ± 1 mm long; Achenes immature, 1.5 mm long; pappus 11–13 mm long.
