Climbing herb, 1.5–12 m long, slightly fleshy and with unpleasant smell.. Leaves ovate or triangular, 2.5–12 cm long, 1.5–8 cm wide, cuneate to truncate or cordate into a petioloid base 1.5–6 cm long, auriculate or not, margins denticulate to dentate or shallowly lobed (lyrate), apex obtuse or acute, puberulous; 3–5-veined from base.. Capitula several to many in terminal corymbs; involucre campanulate, 8–11 mm long; bracts of calyculus linear-lanceolate, 3–5 mm long; phyllaries 10–13, often with darker tips, 8–11 mm long, sparsely pubescent.. Florets orange or less often yellow, 10–16 mm long, expanding in upper part, lobes 1.2–2 mm long, hooded at tip.. Achenes 4.5 mm long, hairy in the grooves; pappus white, 8–11 mm long..
