A terrestrial herb 2–9.5 dm. high, glabrous except for the roots and the petals.. Tubers elongated ellipsoid or ovoid, 1.5–2.5 cm. long, scarcely 1 cm. in diameter, sparsely pilose.. Stem erect, rather stout, rarely slender, leafy throughout its length.. Leaves 9–13, the lowest 5–8 suberect or ± spreading, linear or lanceolate, acute, the largest 7–22 cm. long and 1–2 cm. broad, the upper ones ± adpressed to the stem, smaller, lanceolate, acuminate, resembling the lowest bracts.. Inflorescence 4–25 cm. long, 3–5 cm. in diameter, rather densely 7-to many-flowered.. Bracts lanceolate, acuminate, 1–3 cm. long, usually shorter than the ovary with pedicel.. Flowers suberect, green and white; pedicel with ovary curved in the upper part, 2–3 cm. long.. Dorsal sepal refiexed, narrowly elliptical, obtuse, convex, 6–9 mm. long, 2–4.5 mm. broad; laterals deflexed, obliquely obovate, apiculum lateral, 8.5–11 mm. long, 4.5–7 mm. broad.. Petals bipartite nearly to the base, ciliate, pubescent in the lower part; lobes lanceolate, the posterior (upper) 5–7.5 mm. long, ± 1 mm. broad, the anterior spreading forwards, 8–12 mm. long, 1–2.5 mm. broad.. Lip deflexed, tripartite from a very short undivided base ± 1 mm. long; lobes linear, middle lobe 10–17 mm. long, 0.5–1 mm. broad, side lobes 6.5–13 mm. long, a little broader than the middle lobe.. Spur ± incurved, swollen in the apical half, 15–22 mm. long.. Anther 2-4 mm. high, the loculi reclinate, canals porrect or incurved, 4–7 mm. long..
