Characteristics

A terrestrial herb 4–5.5 dm. high, almost entirely glabrous.. Tubers not seen.. Stem erect, slender to rather stout, leafy throughout its length.. Leaves 5–6 (lowest not seen), the middle 2–3 erect or suberect, linear, the largest 14–16 cm. long and 1–1.5 cm. broad, the upper ones smaller, lanceolate, acuminate.. Inflorescence 10–30 cm. long, 3.5–4 cm. in diameter, rather densely many-flowered.. Bracts lanceolate, acuminate, 1–2 cm. long, usually shorter than the pedicel with ovary.. Flowers curving outwards, green with white petals; pedicel with ovary much curved, 1.5–2 cm. long.. Dorsal sepal reflexed, narrowly elliptical, obtuse, ± 4.5 mm. long, scarcely 2 mm. broad; laterals deflexed, obliquely obovate with lateral apiculum, nearly 7 mm. long, 4 mm. broad.. Petals bipartite nearly to the base; posterior (upper) lobe reflexed, linear, nearly 5 mm. long, 0.5 mm. broad; anterior lobe spreading forwards, triangular-lanceolate, acute, ± 10 mm. long, nearly 2 mm. broad at base.. Lip deflexed, tripartite nearly to the base; middle lobe ± incurved, linear, ± 12 mm. long; side lobes oblanceolate-linear, acute, 9 mm. long; all lobes nearly 1 mm. broad.. Spur curved strongly upwards, swollen in the apical third, ±1.8 cm. long.. Anther 2.5 mm. high, loculi reclinate, canals incurved, 3 mm. long.. Stigmas porrect, slightly thickened at apex, 3 mm. long.. Rostellum elongate-triangular, nearly 2.5 mm. long.
