Petals 2-lobed almost to base, upper lobe 6–9 mm long, less than 1 mm wide, erect but curving back; lower lobes 10–13 × 2.5–3 mm, lanceolate, spreading, acute, often with a secondary tip (a common abnormality in this species).Lip deflexed, 3-lobed almost to base; mid-lobe 10.5–16 mm long, side lobes usually slightly shorter, all lobes c. 1 mm wide, linear; spur 20–30 mm long, curving forwards with 1 twist about the middle, inflated in apical third.

Stem leafy; leaves 7–13, the lowermost 2–3 loosely sheathing, rather funnel-shaped, white with dark green reticulate veining; next 5–6 spreading, the largest 10–20 × 1.5–2.5 cm, linear-lanceolate; the rest becoming bract-like.
Stigmatic arms 5–7 mm long, slender but truncate at apex, diverging from each other at an angle of c. 60°.Rostellum mid-lobe c. 2 mm long; side lobes diverging, lying above stigmatic arms.
Inflorescence 10–30 × 3–4 cm, fairly densely many-flowered, almost all flowers opening together; bracts c. 20 mm long, somewhat scarious.
