Characteristics

Column 4 mm long in all, including a sterile basal part 2 mm long; anther 2 mm high, canals 5 mm long, porrect, the tips upturned; auricles large, truncate; stigmatic arms 5 mm long, porrect, slender but enlarged and truncate at apex; rostellum mid-lobe c. 1 mm long.

Lip 3-lobed almost to base; mid-lobe 13–16 × 0.6 mm, linear or narrowly lanceolate; side lobes similar but shorter; spur 26–28 mm long, straight, ± parallel to ovary and pedicel, very slender but swollen to c. 1.5 mm wide in apical 6 mm.
Stem leafy; leaves 8–13, the lowermost 1–2 sheathing, with rather obscure reticulate veining; the next 2–5 suberect, to c. 11 × 3 mm, narrowly linear, the base sheathing; the upper 5–6 bract-like and appressed to the stem.
Petals 2-lobed almost to base; upper lobe 4–5 × 0.4 mm, linear, erect but curving back; lower lobe deflexed, 12–14 × 0.5–0.7 mm, narrowly linear-lanceolate, slightly papillose towards the base.
Sepals reflexed; dorsal sepal 4–5 × 1.5–2 mm, elliptic; lateral sepals 8 × 3–5 mm, obliquely obovate from a narrow base, with a lateral apiculum.
Inflorescence 8–10 × 5–7 cm, fairly laxly 6–9-flowered; bracts to 15 mm long, much shorter than the pedicel.
Pedicel 20–22 mm long, ovary 10–13 mm long, straight or slightly arched.
Slender terrestrial herb 40–45 cm high, tubers c. 12 × 10 mm, ovoid.
