A terrestrial herb 1.5–5.5 dm. high.. Roots spreading, fleshy, narrowly cylindrical, woolly.. Stem erect, rather slender, with a bunch of large leaves at the base and several smaller ones along its length.. Basal leaves 3–7 with stalks up to 7 cm. long, lanceolate or elliptical-lanceolate, acute, the largest 5–24 cm. long, 2.5–6 cm. broad; leaves along stem 3–5, much smaller, the lowest often resembling the basal leaves the remainder more like the bracts.. Inflorescence 4–19 cm. long, laxly 2–11-flowered.. Bracts lanceolate, acuminate, shorter than the flowers but sometimes exceeding the ovaries.. Flowers suberect, green and white, or almost entirely white; pedicel with ovary 2–3.5 cm. long.. Dorsal sepal erect, narrowly lanceolate, acute, convex, 1.5–3 cm. long, 3–5 mm. broad; laterals deflexed, obliquely lanceolate, very acute, a little longer than the dorsal.. Petals erect, linear or filiform, 1.6–3.6 cm. long.. Lip projecting forwards or downwards, 3-lobed almost from the base, the lobes all filiform but the middle one a little broader than the side lobes; middle lobe 2–4.5 cm. long; side lobes 3–5.5 cm. long, diverging..
