Characteristics

A terrestrial herb 1–2 dm. high.. Tubers ellipsoid, 8–20 mm. long, 6–12 mm. in diameter, ± densely tomentose.. Stem erect, slender, with a single leaf at the base and often 1 or 2 distant sheaths, covered with long spreading hairs.. Leaf adpressed to the ground, broadly ovate, orbicular or reniform-orbicular, cordate at the base, apiculate or shortly acuminate, 2–5 cm. long and broad, glabrous beneath, glabrous or with few or numerous long white hairs on the upper surface, the margins densely ciliate, sometimes distinctly veined; sheaths lanceolate, acuminate, densely hairy.. Inflorescence 2.5–11 cm. long, 3–4 cm. in diameter, loosely 3–14-flowered; rhachis with spreading hairs.. Bracts lanceolate, very acute, 5–11 mm. long, much shorter than the pedicel with ovary, long-hairy.. Flowers half-spreading or curved outwards, pale green with yellow-green central parts; pedicel with ovary 11–15 mm. long, densely hairy.. Dorsal sepal erect, ovate-elliptical, subacute, convex, 4–7 mm. long, 2.5–4 mm. broad; laterals spreading, obliquely semi-ovate, acute, 5–7.5 mm. long, 2–4 mm. broad; all sepals hairy outside.. Petals bipartite nearly to the base; posterior (upper) lobe erect, curved, lanceolate-linear, acute, 3–6 mm. long, 1–1.5 mm. broad, sparsely hairy; anterior lobe curved upwards, narrowly linear, 6–14 mm. long, ± 0.5 mm. broad, glabrous.. Lip tripartite nearly to the base, glabrous; middle lobe decurved, linear, obtuse, 6–12 mm. long, ± 1.5 mm. broad; side lobes curved upwards and rather longer than the middle lobe but only half as broad.. Spur dependent, slender at base, swollen in the apical half, 9–27 mm. long.. Anther 2–3 mm. high, rounded, canals upcurved, ± 1–1.5 mm. long.. Stigmas somewhat decurved, thickly club-shaped, 1.5–2 mm. long.. Rostellum narrowly triangular, 1–2 mm. long.
