Characteristics

Leaves 8–12, the basal 4 or 5 sheath-like, the lowermost foliage leaf about one third up the stem; upper leaves bract-like, those in the middle spreading, 8–15 × 2.5–4.5 cm, oblanceolate or elliptic with noticeable reticulate venation, the edge often undulate, clasping the stem at the base.

Lip 3-lobed ± to base; mid-lobe 5–8 × 0.5–1 mm, deflexed; side lobes 4–7 × 0.5 mm, parallel to lower petal lobes; spur 15–20 mm long with a hairy tooth in the mouth; slightly swollen in apical half, recurved and projecting above the flower.
Petals 2-lobed ± to the base; upper lobe 5–6 mm long, less than 1 mm wide, linear, erect, adnate to dorsal sepal; lower lobes 6–7 × 0.5 mm, spreading and curving up.
Inflorescence 11–27 × 3–3.5 cm, laxly 10–25-flowered; bracts c. 10 mm long, lanceolate, acute.
Dorsal sepal 4–6 × 3–5 mm, ovate, erect; lateral sepals 6–7 × 2–2.5 mm, elliptic, deflexed.
Terrestrial herb up to 80 cm high with ± globose tubers.
Anther c. 1.2 mm high; canals 1.5 mm long.
Ovary and pedicel c. 15 mm long, arched.
Rostellum mid-lobe recurved, triangular.
Stigmatic arms decurved, 1.2–2 mm long.
Stem leafy along its length.
