Characteristics

A terrestrial herb 1–2 dm. high.. Tubers cylindrical, 1.5–2 cm. long, tomentose.. Stem erect, slender, with 1 or 2 basal leaves and a few scattered sheaths along the rest of the stem, pubescent.. Leaf or leaves adpressed to the soil, ± orbicular, apiculate, cordate at the base, 1–2 cm. long and broad, deep green above, paler beneath, glabrous with ciliate margins; sheaths lanceolate, acuminate, to 1 cm. long, pubescent.. Inflorescence 1.5–6 cm. long, scarcely 2cm. in diameter, densely 6–11-flowered; rhachis densely pubescent.. Bracts lanceolate, acuminate, up to 8 mm. long, pubescent.. Flowers suberect, not resupinate, yellow to yellowish-green; pedicel with ovary almost straight, ± 1 cm. long.. Intermediate sepal pointing downwards, convex, ovate to broadly ovate, acute, 5 mm. long, 3–4.5 mm. broad; laterals reflexed, obliquely semi-ovate, acute, 5–6 mm. long, ± 3 mm. broad; all sepals pubescent outside.. Petals parallel to the anther, bipartite to near the base, ± 5 mm. long, glabrous; lobe nearest the intermediate sepal obliquely oblong or elliptical-oblong, subacute, ± 4 mm. long, nearly 2 mm. broad, the other lobe smaller, linear or lanceolate-linear, acute, just over 3 mm. long, ± 0.5 mm. broad.. Lip upright, 3-lobed from below the middle, 7–9 mm. long, glabrous; undivided basal part widened upwards, 2–4 mm. long; lobes diverging, ligulate, 5–6 mm. long, the middle lobe a little longer than the side lobes and about twice as broad.. Spur projecting upwards, not much swollen, ± 7 mm. long.. Anther ± 2.5 mm. high, canals porrect, very short.. Stigmas very short, truncate at apex.. Rostellum rounded triangular, placed between and in front of the anther-loculi, nearly 2 mm. long.
