Characteristics

Plant 2.5-7 cm tall. Basal leaves 1 or 2; lamina usually compressed, sometimes terete, plano-convex or concave-convex, 1-2 mm wide. Inflorescence of 1 or 2 or occasionally 3 obloid, dense racemes 1-3 cm long; flowers solitary; bracteoles opaque, deep red or purplish black, the venation obscure abaxially, the margins undifferentiated; upper bracteole acute, reaching to ⅓-½ way up perianth. Flowers 4.5-6.5 mm long, deep red or purplish black. Sepals ½-⅔ as long as petals. Stamens equal; anthers versatile, half exserted from petals, 1.3-1.8 mm long. Style at anthesis exserted, reaching to anther tips.
