Characteristics

Perennial, woody, dwarf shrub, up to 0.3(-0.6) m high; stems much branched, ascending to erect, closely leafy. Leaves ± 3-5 mm long and wide, broadly cordate to broadly ovate. Flowers in short, dense, terminal spikes, mostly up to 20-30 mm long. Bracts leaf-like but smaller, ovate, acute. Corolla short, white, sometimes with yellow to orange fleck in throat; lobes short. Fruit round but bilaterally compressed, splitting into 2 equal, uniconvex parts. Flowering time Aug.-Mar., mainly Mar.
