Characteristics

Herbs, perennial, 15-25 cm tall. Stems caespitose, decum­bent. Stipules lanceolate, 3-4 mm, connate farther than middle. Leaves 3-5 cm, 11-19-foliolate; leaflet blades ovate, elliptic, or oblong, 4-6(-10) × 2-3 mm, abaxially appressed pubescent, adaxially glabrous. Racemes dense, ovoid, with many flowers; bracts subulate-lanceolate, ± as long as pedicel; peduncle longer than leaves. Pedicel ca. 1 mm. Calyx campanulate, 5-6 mm, pubescent; teeth lanceolate-subulate, ca. 2 × as long as tube. Corolla purple; standard broadly obovate, 7-9 mm; wings ca. 2/5 as long as standard; keel 2-3 mm longer than standard. Ovary subglabrous. Legume divided into 2-4 articles; articles globose to ellipsoid, inflated, densely pubescent, prickly, mar­gin inconspicuous. Fl. May-Aug, fr. Jul-Sep.
