Characteristics

Shrub 0.3–1.8(–3) m high, distally much branched with erect branches; branches densely leafy, whitish-tomentellous when young, becoming glabrous and with remnants of leaf-bases.. Leaves dark green above, silvery beneath, spreading, sessile, linear, 0.5–1.5 cm long, 0.05–0.2 cm wide, base straight, not tapering, slightly semi-amplexicaul, margins revolute, apex acute and mucronate, sparsely pilose and glandular above, tomentellous and glandular beneath.. Capitula 3–5 mm long, heterogamous, in terminal convex corymbs to 2 cm in diameter; stalks of individual capitula 1–4 mm long; phyllaries silvery green with brown apex when fresh, drying pale brown with darker apex, 5-seriate, scarious, wrinkled, ovate to linear, 1.5–5 mm long, obtuse to subacute, the outer sparsely pilose, the inner sparsely glandular; receptacle fimbriae to 1.5 mm long.. Florets yellow, 20–30; outer florets 5–8, filiform, tube 1.7–1.8 mm long, lobes 0.3–0.4 mm long and glandular, style 2–2.3 mm long; inner florets 18–23, tube narrowly infundibuliform, 1.8–2.3 mm long, lobes 0.5–0.6 mm long, glandular, anthers ± 1.2 mm long, style 2.5–3 mm long.. Achenes narrowly obovoid, 0.6–0.8 mm long, glabrous; pappus white, 2–2.5 mm long, caducous in groups.
