Heads disciform, subglobose, ± 7-10 x 7-10 mm, solitary at tips of branchlets, surrounded by leaves. Involucral bracts in ± 9 series, graded, imbricate, inner ± equalling florets, shining, silvery becoming increasingly pink-tinged inwards, fading at maturity, tips obtuse, radiating, stereome divided. Receptacle epaleate, very shortly honeycombed. Flowers: female and disc florets 166-290, 19-36 female; corolla of disc florets funnel-shaped, yellow, tipped pink; Jun-Feb. Fruit with cypsela (and ovary) hairy. Pappus of many barbellate bristles, bases cohering lightly by patent cilia.
