Annual herb, up to 300 mm high; stems procumbent or decumbent, thinly woolly, leafy throughout. Leaves: blade spathulate to narrowly obovate, up to 25 x 7 mm, apex subacute, mucronate, narrowed to petiole-like base, both surfaces thinly grey-woolly. Heads disciform, subglobose, ± 7-10 x 7-10 mm, solitary at tips of branchlets, surrounded by leaves. Involucral bracts in ± 9 series, graded, imbricate, inner ± equalling florets, shining, silvery becoming increasingly pink-tinged inwards, fading at maturity, tips obtuse, radiating, stereome divided. Receptacle epaleate, very shortly honeycombed. Flowers: female and disc florets 166-290, 19-36 female; corolla of disc florets funnel-shaped, yellow, tipped pink; Jun-Feb. Fruit with cypsela (and ovary) hairy. Pappus of many barbellate bristles, bases cohering lightly by patent cilia.

Leaves up to 25 x 7 mm, spathulate to oblanceolate, base narrowed, both sides thinly grey-woolly. Capitula solitary, terminal, surrounded by leaves; involucral bracts in 9 series, glossy, silvery to pink-tinged inwards, fading with age, apex obtuse, radiating. Receptacle ± honeycombed. Flowers 166-290, yellow, tipped pink. Flowering time June-Dec. Pappus of many bristles, bases cohering lightly by patent cilia. Cypselae 0.75 mm long.
