Leaves: blade linear, up to 5-10 x 0.5 mm, apex obtuse to subacute, base broad, clasping, margins revolute, both surfaces enveloped in silvery tissue paper-like indumentum, with orange glands. Heads discoid, cylindric-turbinate, ± 5 x 2 mm, solitary to several clustered at branchlet tips. Involucral bracts in ± 6 series, outermost short, webbed together and to surrounding leaves with wool, inner series subequal, tips opaque white or sometimes pale pink, slightly exceeding florets, minutely radiating, stereome divided. Receptacle epaleate, with flattened tubercles. Flowers: disc florets only, 11-24; corolla narrowly funnel-shaped, yellow, often tipped pink; Aug.-Dec. Fruit with cypsela (and ovary) hairy. Pappus of many barbellate bristles, bases with minute patent cilia not cohering.
