Leaves: blade of basal leaves oblong to elliptic-obovate, up to 200 x 20 mm, commonly < 100 x 20 mm, loosely woolly cobwebby, upper surface sometimes glabrescent, lower surface persistent woolly, 3-or 5-nerved; blade of stem leaves similar but narrower and smaller. Heads disciform or rarely discoid, campanulate, 25-30 x ± 50 mm, solitary. Involucral bracts in ± 10 series, graded, loosely imbricate, much exceeding florets, glossy, white to deep rosy pink, radiating, stereome divided. Receptacle epaleate, shortly honeycombed. Flowers: female and/or only disc florets 231-407, 0-13 female; corolla of disc florets narrowly funnel-shaped, pink; Oct.-Jan. Fruit with cypsela (and ovary) hairy. Pappus of many barbellate bristles, bases cohering by patent cilia, some fusion in bundles also.

Pappus of many bristles, apex barbellate, bases cohering by patent cilia, some fusion as well. Cypselae 1.75 mm long, barrel-shaped, hairy.
