Characteristics

Herb or semi-trailing shrub 0.3–1 m high; stems much branched, thin white-tomentose but glabrescent, densely leafy and often with marcescent leaves.. Leaves elliptic or lanceolate, 1–3.5 cm long, 0.5–1.5 cm wide, base narrowed into a pseudopetiole to 8 mm long and sheathing for a few mm, margins slightly revolute or occasionally flat, apex abruptly mucronate, sparsely tomentose above, densely pale grey-green tomentose beneath.. Capitula 11–17 mm long, heterogamous, (1–)3–8 together in terminal corymbs; stalks of individual capitula 3–15 mm long; phyllaries white or white with pink tinge near base or apex, rarely (in bud?) reddish, multiseriate, lanceolate to oblong, 5–15 mm long, acute, stereome pilose (in outer) to glandular (inner); receptacle honeycombed.. Florets yellow, several hundred; outer florets few, in 1–2 rows, tube cylindrical, 1.8–2.2 mm long, lobes 0.3–0.4 mm long, style 2.2–2.5 mm long; inner florets very many, tube narrowly infundibuliform to almost cylindrical from a slightly widened base, 2–3.4 mm long, lobes 0.3 mm long, glandular, anthers ± 1.5 mm long, style 3.3–3.7 mm long.. Achenes cylindrical, 0.7–1.1 mm long, glabrous; pappus white, 3–3.7 mm long, barbellate with widened apex, falling separately.
