Shrub or climber; stems up to 2 m long, erect or scandent, white-felted, leafy. Leaves: blade cordate-ovate, 80 x 50 mm, apex acute to acuminate, upper surface thinly cobwebby at first, later minutely glandular pubescent, lower surface white-felted, digitately veined; petiole up to 25 mm long, winged, base clasping, auriculate. Heads disciform, campanulate, ± 2 x 2 mm, many in congested, corymbose clusters, these in large, spreading, corymbose panicles. Involucral bracts in 4 series, graded, imbricate, outer bracts woolly, inner ± equalling florets, glossy, silvery translucent, tips obtuse, minutely radiating, stereome divided. Receptacle epaleate, honeycombed. Flowers: female and disc florets 8-13, 1-4 female; corolla of disc florets campanulate above, bright yellow; Jan.-Apr. Fruit with cypsela hairy. Pappus of many barbellate bristles, bases lightly cohering by patent cilia.
