Dwarf shrub, up to 1 m high; stiffly branched, stems thinly greyish white-felted, glabrescent, closely leafy. Leaves: blade linear, up to 20 x 2 mm, apex acute, mucronate, margins strongly revolute, upper surface cobwebby, glabrescent, lower surface white-felted. Heads disciform or discoid, cylindric, ± 3.5 x 1 mm, many in dense, cymose clusters, corymbose-paniculately arranged at branch tips. Involucral bracts in ± 5 series, graded, closely imbricate, ± equalling florets, not radiating, glossy, pale lemon-yellow or straw-coloured, stereome divided. Receptacle epaleate, with fimbrils equalling ovaries. Flowers: female and/or only disc florets 5 or 6, 0-2 female; corolla of disc florets funnel-shaped, pale yellow; Feb. Fruit with cypsela? (and ovary) glabrous. Pappus of many barbellate bristles, bases cohering strongly by patent cilia.
