Perennial herb; flowering stems up to 300 mm high, erect, simple, thinly grey silky-woolly, leafy. Leaves: blade narrowly obovate to narrowly elliptic, 80 x 15 mm, smaller upwards, apex acute, base half-clasping, both surfaces grey silky-woolly. Heads discoid, turbinate-campanulate, ± 7 mm long, several to many in compact, corymbose panicle. Involucral bracts in ± 5 series, subequal, loosely imbricate, cobwebby at base, tips acute, slightly exceeding florets, not radiating, lemon-yellow, stereome divided. Receptacle epaleate, honeycombed. Flowers: disc florets only, 9-12; corolla narrowly campanulate above, yellow; Oct.-Feb. Fruit with cypsela hairy. Pappus of many barbellate bristles, bases cohering strongly by patent cilia, some light fusion as well.
