Shrub, up to 1 m high; aromatic, branches short, stiff, old branches bare, rough, twigs thinly grey silky-felted, closely leafy. Leaves erect to spreading; blade spathulate or obovate, mostly 3-10 x 2-4 mm, smaller upwards, thick, apex mucronate, recurved, narrowed to base, margins flat, both sides grey silky-felted, glandular-punctate; minutely petiolate. Heads discoid, turbinate-cylindric, ± 5 x 3 mm, few in terminal, corymbose clusters. Involucral bracts in 4 series, graded, imbricate, inner equalling florets, oblong, white-woolly and glandular-punctate, tips rounded, glabrous, straw-coloured or golden-brown, not radiating, stereome divided. Receptacle epaleate, smooth or very shortly toothed. Flowers: disc florets only, 8-15; corolla broadly campanulate above, yellow; Nov.-May. Fruit with cypsela? (and ovary) hairy. Pappus of many barbellate bristles, bases cohering by patent cilia.

Twiggy shrublet to 1 m, thinly grey-felted on young parts. Leaves obovate-spathulate, hooked, grey-felted. Flower heads discoid, few in terminal clusters, cylindrical, straw-coloured, ± 5 x 3 mm, florets 8-15, ovary papillate-hairy.
