Characteristics

Herb or shrubby herb, 0.6–1.5 m high; stems reddish brown, thinly tomentose when young.. Leaves discolorous, lanceolate to panduriform, sessile, 1.5–8.5 cm long, 0.5–2.3 cm wide, base semi-amplexicaul and (slightly) auriculate, margins entire to slightly crenulate, apex acute and mucronate, green and thinly rough-pilose above, white-tomentose beneath.. Capitula 7–10 mm long, heterogamous, many in terminal lax leafy corymbs; stalks of individual capitula 1–4 mm; phyllaries shiny white or cream with a tiny pink mark at the base, 5-seriate, lanceolate, 2–8 mm long, acute, glabrous; receptacle honeycombed.. Florets yellow to orange, many; outer ones in few rows, tube filiform, 1.8–2 mm long, lobes 0.1–0.3 mm long, style 2.4–2.7 mm long; inner florets many, tube cylindric, 2.3–2.5 mm long, lobes 0.2–0.3 mm long and glandular, anthers 1.3–1.5 mm long, style 2.7–3.2 mm long.. Achenes ellipsoid, 0.6–0.8 mm long, glabrous; pappus white, 2.5–3 mm long, falling individually.
