Straggly or erect herb, sometimes almost climbing, 0.9–2.5 m. tall; stems sparsely to densely spreading hairy and with adpressed pubescence.. Leaf-blades ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 3.5–15 cm. long, 2–10 cm. wide, acute at the apex, gradually narrowed at the base into the petiole, sometimes slightly bullate, ± velvety beneath when very young, later scabrid with ± sparse to dense tubercle-based hairs and many cystolith dots with or without minute hairs arising from them; petioles 1–2 cm. long.. Inflorescences terminal, 2(–3)-branched, each scorpioid cyme 3–18 cm. long; peduncle 8–24 cm. long; flowers with strong ± unpleasant odour.. Calyx divided ± to base, the lobes linear-subulate, up to 6 mm. long, setulose..
