Robust, highly succulent shrub, up to 500 mm tall, parasitic on Sclerocarya birrea subsp. caffra. Leaves thick and succulent, petioles 10-12 mm long. Inflorescence stout and elongated, rhachis 100-150 mm long, 2-3 mm wide. Flowers reddish orange.
Leaves opposite or subopposite; petiole 1–1.5 cm long, glandular-hairy in groove; lamina thickly succulent, 2.5–5 × 1–3.5 cm, rounded to broadly elliptic, oblanceolate or obovate, rounded at apex, with few obscure lateral nerves.
Corolla in bud slightly angled below, tapered above; petals orange-red, 1.2–1.8 cm long, linear, thickened in lower third below filament insertion.
Racemes terminal, mostly on short spur-shoots, 10–15 cm long, laxly 20–40-flowered; pedicel 1–3 mm long; bract 1–1.5 mm long, ovate-triangular.
Stems to 0.6 m or so; branchlets soon thickening to 3–8 mm diameter, reddish-brown turning grey.
Berry bright red, c. l0 mm across, rounded to ellipsoid.
Anthers 6–8 mm long, 2–4 times as long as filament.
Calyx subentire, glabrous.
Receptacle 2–3 mm long.
Style 8–10 mm long.
