Characteristics

Annual herb, erect or ascending, sometimes scrambling 40-500 mm long; stems branched with noticeable white hairs. Leaves 10-50 x 5-25 mm, ± ovate, sometimes lanceolate or elliptical, ± serrate or seldom entire with ± winged petioles or upper ones sometimes sessile. Flowers in terminal clusters of 4-12, in axils of leaf-like bracts; pedicellate. Corolla yellow, bilabiate, glandular villous on outside; upper lip hooded and emarginate, sometimes brown-spotted inside, lateral lobes spreading, each with well-developed, ± central sac, lowest lobe largest, usually emarginate.
