Perennial herb, up to 0.15 m high, very variable; stalked glands present. Stems creeping to suberect. Leaves sessile; blade narrowly ovate, > 4 x as long as broad, often reddish brown to purplish along margins, margins shallowly lobed. Flowers: in 2-flowered cymes on long peduncles; calyx > 1/2 as long as petals, segments broadly subulate, acute; petals pink, mauve, purplish to blue; Sep.-Mar.
