Characteristics

Leaf-lamina 1·5–4 × 0·3–1·6 cm., narrowly lanceolate to narrowly oblong-lanceolate, apex obtuse or acute, margin serrate, base rounded or cuneate, thinly appressed-stellate-pubescent on both surfaces and also with glandular hairs in some specimens; petiole up to 1·5 cm. long, with glandular and simple hairs; stipules c. 2 mm. long, subulate, pubescent.

Flowers solitary in the upper axils, on filamentous puberulous peduncles up to 3·5 cm. long; pedicel up to 8 mm. long, articulated by a slightly swollen joint to the peduncle, puberulous; bracts absent.
Petals pink, reddish-orange or purplish, 5·5–10 × 2·5–6·5 mm., narrowly obovate, margins slightly inrolled in the lower half, as long as or considerably longer than the calyx.
Capsule 5–8 × 5–7 mm., truncate-ovoid to oblong-ovoid, thinly stellate-pubescent with some glands or glabrescent, with spreading horns at the apex up to 1·5 mm. long.
Slender or much-branched annual herb up to 60 cm. tall; branches slender, pubescent with short glandular hairs and longer simple hairs.
Calyx 3–6·5 × 3–7 mm., campanulate, pubescent with simple and glandular hairs, lobed 2/3 of the way down; lobes ovate-acuminate.
Stamens with obovate filaments 3·5–4 mm. long, with hairs on the shoulders; anthers 3·5–6 mm. long, pubescent.
Ovary oblong-ovoid, stipitate, glandular; styles 3–4 mm. long, puberulous in the lower half.
Seeds c. 1·75 × 0·75 mm., brown, subreniform, wrinkled and granulate.
