Bushy suffrutex, 0.15-1.00 m long; stems grey scaly, gland-dotted, often glutinous. Leaves clustered, shortly petiolate or sessile, very narrowly obovate, cymbiform (boatshaped, appearing linear); white gland-dotted. Stipules subulate, deciduous. Inflorescences axillary, 1-flowered; peduncles aborted or 1-3 mm long; pedicels white gland-dotted. Flowers ± 9 mm long, crimson, mauve when dry. Calyx lobed to middle or beyond, sinuses rounded, lobes deltoid-acuminate; white gland-dotted, glutinous, margins ciliate. Petals longer than calyx, oblong-obovate in upper 2/3, clawed. Flowering time Sept.-May. Fruit: capsule with 5 pairs of spreading, glabrous horns.
Shrub or dwarf shrub, up to 1 m high. Leaves fascicled; sessile or shortly petiolate; blade narrowly obovate, plicate, appearing linear. Flowers: 1-flowered cymes in pseudo-racemes at ends of slender, ultimate branchlets; calyx lobed to middle or just beyond, lobes deltoid-acuminate, ± 6 mm long; petals wine-red, red or yellow; Oct.-Feb.
