Characteristics

Dwarf shrub, up to 0.4 m high; densely stellate-tomentose. Stems erect, much branched. Leaves petiolate, yellowish brown; blade narrowly oblong-elliptic to narrowly ovate, margins entire or serrate, tomentellous on both surfaces. Flowers: 1-5 in axillary pseudo-umbels; calyx campanulate; petals yellow; Mar.-Jun.

Leaf-lamina up to 8 × 2·2 cm., narrowly oblong-elliptic to lanceolate, apex acute, base cuneate, margin entire or serrate, tomentellous on both surfaces; petiole up to c. 6 mm. long; stipules up to 2 × 0·8 cm. but usually smaller, oblong-lanceolate, acute at the apex, with 3 nerves from the base.
Flowers (1) 3–5 in axillary pseudo-umbels; peduncle c. 4 mm. long, tomentellous; pedicels similar, c. 4 mm. long; bracts up to 1 × 0·5 cm., solitary, tomentellous, lanceolate, entire, sparsely toothed or 2–3-partite.
Calyx 7–10 × 6 mm., campanulate, lobed about half-way with acute narrowly triangular lobes, greyish-stellate-tomentellous but densely glandular also.
Petals 0·8–1·2 × 0·4–0·6 mm., yellow, oblong-spathulate, densely pubescent in the lower half, the margins inrolled in the lower half.
Much-branched shrublet up to 40 cm. tall, greyish-stellate-tomentellous with some glandular hairs on all its vegetative parts.
Ovary shortly stipitate, oblong-obovoid, densely glandular; styles c. 4 mm. long, pubescent near the base.
Stamens with cruciform-tuberculate pilose filaments 5–6 mm. long; anthers c. 4 mm. long, pubescent.
Ripe capsule not known.
