Characteristics

Low, much-branched suffrutex, up to 0.3 m high; branches dark brown, semi-glabrous with scaly patches. Leaves crowded towards apices of branches, petiolate, obovate, often folded, base cuneate, apex rounded, margins entire; velvety pubescent on both surfaces, interspersed with villous, long-rayed, stellate hairs radiating from central scale (tubercle). Stipules leaf-like. Inflorescences of crowded short cymes at apices of branchlets and in axils of upper leaves; pedicels short, up to 3 mm long, villous. Flowers 10 mm long, yellow. Calyx inflated, urn-shaped (urceolate), ± 6 mm long, narrowed at mouth, 5-lobed at apex; villous. Petals narrowly oblong, apex reflexed, narrowed into claw. Flowering time Aug.-Dec.
