Characteristics

Plants 80-300 mm high. Corm ± ovoid, 8-12 mm diam., asymmetric with oblique flat side; tunics woody, concentric, dark brown, outer layers fragmenting into elliptic sections drawn into persistent fibres above, these forming a collar around base. Stem slender, unbranched, sheathed at base by ± dry, brown cataphylls and collar of fibres. Leaves 3, lower 2 ± basal, blades narrowly lanceolate, slightly succulent with main veins and margins thickened, ± half as long as stem, 2-4 mm wide, upper leaf cauline and sheathing lower half of stem. Spike flexuose, mostly 3-to 6-flowered; bracts green, 9-14 mm long. Flowers diurnal, ± salver-shaped, pale to deep pink to violet-purple; perianth tube straight, 7-10 mm long, cylindric, wider near apex; tepals subequal, elliptic, ± 10 x 3 mm, spreading. Filaments diverging, 3-4 mm long; anthers ± 4 mm long, light purple-brown; pollen ?yellow. Style branches ± 6 mm long, ascending, ultimately reaching to ± middle of anthers in closed flower. Capsules ovoid, 6-8 mm long. Seeds unknown.
