Characteristics

Plants 100-200 mm high. Corm ovoid, 10-12 mm diam.; tunics dark brown, overlapping, lower margin breaking into sections. Stem simple or 1-branched from near base. Leaves 4, lower 2 or 3 basal, upper 1 or 2 cauline, uppermost largely sheathing, blades of lower reaching to between middle and apex of stem, firm, upright or slightly falcate, mostly 0.8-2.0 mm wide, main vein thickened. Spike flexuose, (1)2-to 7-flowered; bracts 6.5-14.0 mm long, inner slightly shorter than outer. Flowers diurnal, deep pink, ?unscented; perianth tube, mostly 4-6 mm long; tepals 10.0-14.5 x 3.5-5.5 mm. Filaments 2-3 mm long; anthers 3-6 mm long. Style branches ± 7-8 mm long, reaching to upper 1/3 of anthers in closed flower. Capsules ellipsoid, 5-7 mm long. Seeds light brown, angular with narrow raised edges, ± 1 mm diam.
