Characteristics

Plants ± 300 mm high. Corm ± globose, ± 8 mm diam.; tunics dark brown, softly woody, imbricate. Stem simple, sheathed below by membranous, brown cataphyll. Leaves 4, lower 3 basal, linear, 1/2-2/3 as long as stem, 1.5-2.0 mm wide, main vein and margins thickened, prominent, uppermost leaf cauline, short, entirely sheathing. Spike 2-or 3-flowered; outer bract green flushed with dark purple, 16-20 mm long, inner smaller. Flowers diurnal, salver-shaped, rosy-purple, ?unscented; perianth tube cylindric, 21-23 mm long, expanded at throat; tepals subequal, ± 16 x 5.5 mm, spreading. Filaments ± 5 mm long; anthers 7.5 mm long, brown; pollen brown. Style branches ± 10 mm long, reaching to ± apex of anthers.
