Characteristics

Plants 200-500 mm high. Corm ± globose, 8-10 mm diam.; tunics dark brown, softly woody, overlapping, spitting below into truncate sections. Stem simple or occasionally 1-branched, erect or drooping. Leaves 5(6), lowermost 1 or 2 basal, up to 450 x 3-9 mm, soft-textured, flaccid, usually falcate, remaining leaves cauline, decreasing in size above, uppermost often entirely sheathing. Spike usually 4-to 7-flowered, ± straight; bracts 20-40 mm long. Flowers diurnal, salver-shaped, pink, unscented; perianth tube cylindric, expanded at apex, (15-)20-39 mm long; tepals elliptic, spreading, 15-24 x 5-8 mm. Filaments 6.0-7.5 mm long; anthers 7-10 mm long, yellow; pollen yellow. Style branches 18-20 mm long, exceeding anthers in closed flower. Capsules ± ellipsoid, 12-20 mm long. Seeds (1.5-)2.5-3.5 x 1.25 mm, with broad membranous wings at both ends ± 1.2-1.5 x 1 mm.

Inflorescence a 2-7-flowered spike, ± straight; flowers bright pink; perianth tube dilated in throat; tepals subequal, elliptic, obtuse to subacute.
