Characteristics

Plants 25-45 mm high. Corm unknown. Stem smooth, often branched from the axil of third leaf. Leaves mostly 4, lower 3 basal or subbasal, leathery, narrowly sword-shaped to linear, mostly 3.0-4.5 mm wide, main vein and margins lightly thickened, midrib rounded, uppermost leaf inserted in middle of stem, partly to entirely sheathing, reaching to ± base of spike. Spike mostly 6-to 12-flowered; bracts green or purplish at tips, 10-15 mm long. Flowers white, sometimes faintly flushed pink on outside of outer tepals, often only on fading, unscented; perianth tube slender, expanded near apex, 7.0-8.5 mm long; tepals subequal, spreading at right angles to tube, 12-16(-18) x 6-8 mm. Filaments 2.5-3.0 mm long; anthers 6.5-8.0 mm long, creamy white; pollen yellow. Style branches reaching to apex of anthers in closed flower. Capsules subglobose, 4-7 mm long. Seeds angular-prismatic to ± ovoid, 1.5-1.8 x 1.2 mm.
