Characteristics

Plants mostly 120-320 mm high. Corm ovoid, 7-12 mm diam.; tunics woody, concentric. Stem unbranched, usually sparsely hairy, with scale-like leaf in upper third 8-20 mm long. Foliage leaves 3, lower 2 narrowly lanceolate, plane, hairy on veins and margins, usually shorter than stem, 4-10 mm wide. Spike 1-to 4(-6)-flowered; bracts 8-10 mm long, green or becoming ± pale and membranous distally. Flowers crepuscular, white, outer tepals brown to grey outside, salver-shaped, usually sweetly scented; perianth tube 8-11 mm long; tepals mostly 12-5 x 3-5 mm, inner slightly shorter and wider than outer. Filaments 2.0-2.5 mm long; anthers (4)5-7 mm long, spreading horizontally, white; pollen creamy white. Style branches spreading, 9-10 mm long, reaching upper 1/3 of anthers in closed flower. Capsules ± globose, 8-9 mm long. Seeds softly angular with loose testa, angles ridged, 2-3 mm long.
