Characteristics

Plants 400-800 mm high. Corm ± globose, 15-20 x 12-16 mm; tunics dark brown, concentric, splitting into narrow elliptic sections narrowed distally into short cusps. Stem unbranched. Leaves 4, lowermost 1 or 2 basal, ± 2/3 as long as stem, 3.0-5.5 mm wide, remaining leaves cauline and shorter, uppermost largely sheathing and bract-like. Spike 5-to 11-flowered, straight or slightly flexuose; bracts green, outer 17-36 mm long, inner shorter. Flowers salver-shaped, diurnal, unscented; perianth tube ± cylindric, expanded near apex, 14-25(-28) mm long; tepals 14-24 mm long. Filaments (3)4-6 mm long; anthers 7-11 mm long, yellow; pollen yellow. Style branches 10-16 mm long, reaching to ± apex of anthers in closed flower. Capsules oblong, 10-17 mm long. Seeds globose, ± 1.3 mm diam. with short to well-developed wings.
