Characteristics

Plants 400-500 mm high. Corms globose, asymmetric with oblique flattened side, ± 10 mm diam.; tunics woody, imbricate, splitting from base into sections. Stem usually unbranched. Leaves 4, lower 2 basal and longest, 170-310 mm long, upper leaves cauline, progressively shorter, uppermost sheathing for half its length. Spike 6-to 9-flowered, lax, ± 2-ranked; bracts green with membranous tips, firm-textured, outer ± 12 mm long, with distinct keel, inner ± 7 mm long, 2-keeled and notched at tip. Flowers diurnal, white, outer tepals pink to red outside, presence of scent unknown; perianth tube ± 7 mm long; tepals elliptic, 12-15 x 2.5-3.0 mm. Filaments ± 3 mm long; anthers 6-7 mm long. Style branches ± 10 mm long, reaching to ± apex of anthers in closed flower.
