Plants 250-500 mm high. Corm ± globose, ± 9 mm diam., asymmetric; tunics woody, concentric, splitting into elliptic sections. Stem slender, sometimes branched from near base, with short scale-like leaf shortly below spike. Foliage leaves 3, lower 2 basal, terete, shallowly grooved, ± half as long as stem, ± 2 mm diam., uppermost leaf sheathing 2/3 of stem with free blade up to 50 mm long. Spike flexuose, 6-to 10-flowered; bracts ± membranous, pale, often dry distally, 8-12 mm long. Flowers crepuscular, rotate, creamy white, outer tepals flushed brown outside; perianth tube straight, ± cylindric, ± 9.5 mm long, slightly wider near apex; tepals subequal, elliptic, ovate, ± 13 x 4 mm, spreading. Filaments weakly diverging, ± 2.5 mm long; anthers 6-7 mm long, yellow; pollen yellow. Style branches ± 5 mm long, spreading over tepals. Capsules obovoid, 6-8 mm long. Seeds angular, with loose testa, ridged on angles, light brown.

Flowers 2-5 per spike, cream, light mauve outside, tepals spreading, exceeding perianth tube, open in the late afternoon and evening, then sweet scented.
