Characteristics

Plants 200-450 mm high. Corm conic, 8-10 mm diam.; tunics woody, layers soon breaking into triangular segments tapering above into short points. Stem unbranched. Leaves usually 4, lower 2 basal, longest, reaching to between middle of stem and apex of spike, linear, 2-3 mm wide, firm, upright, main vein prominently raised, margins lightly thickened, upper 2 leaves smaller and partly to entirely sheathing. Spike mostly 2-to 4-flowered; bracts 22-30 mm long, green, becoming dry and ± brown above. Flowers bright mauve-pink, pale yellow in throat; perianth tube (18-)22-38 mm long, cylindric, lightly curving toward apex, expanded near mouth; tepals weakly ascending, elliptic, 23-27 x 6.0-7.5 mm, acute. Filaments ascending, 6-8 mm long; anthers diverging, 9-10(-11) mm long, tailed in lower 2 mm, yellow; pollen yellow. Style branches 18-20 mm long, laxly ascending, exceeding anthers in closed flower. Capsules ± ellipsoid, 16-18 mm long. Seeds unknown.
