Characteristics

Tree to 20 m tall, densely branched to ground. Branches horizontally spreading. Juvenile leaves to 10 mm long. Adult leaves not dimorphic, to 8 mm long (usually c. 2 mm), dark green, with ±spreading, pungent tips to 2 mm long, not glandular. Male cones oblong or elliptic, to 5 mm long, 3 mm diam. Female cones ovoid to cylindrical, 20-50 mm long, comprising (8-) 10 (-14) fertile scales; each with 6-20 seeds, maturing in 2 years. Cotyledons 3 or 4.
