Characteristics

Slender liana; the stems densely reddish-brown appressed-pubescent, becom-ing glabrate to glabrous and densely lenticellate in age. Leaves ovate to ovate-elliptic, acuminate to acute and glandular-tipped at the apex, acute to obtuse or almost rounded at the base, 2-9 cm long, 1.5-4 cm wide, the upper surface glabrous to sparsely pubescent with minute, whitish, T-shaped trichomes, the lower surface paler, densely pubescent with appressed, reddish-brown, T-shaped trichomes, also with scattered, plate-shaped glands along the margin in the distal 1/4 of the blade; petioles 5-8 mm long, glandular or eglandular, densely appressed-pubescent. Inflorescences paniculate, terminal and on short axillary branches, to ca. 15 cm long, the rachises, peduncles, pedicels and calyces densely reddish-brown appressed-pubescent; peduncles to ca. 2 mm long, bibracteate at the apex, the bracts ovate, glabrous within, sparsely pubescent outside; the pedicels to 3 mm long at anthesis, to 5 mm long in fruit. Flowers pink; calyx lobes biglandular, 1.3-2 mm long, the glands dark, round or ellipsoid, contiguous, to ca. 1.5 mm long; petals pink, obovate, ca. 4 mm long, glabrous, entire, somewhat thickened medially; stamens to 3 mm long, the filaments glabrous, the lower ?3-?/2 united; pistil to ca. 3 mm long, ovary densely reddish-brown pubescent, the styles gla-brous, to ca. 2 mm long. Samaras reddish-brown, 2.5-3.5 cm long, 9-15 mm wide, the wing inconspicuously appressed-pubescent, the dorsal margin thick-ened, straight, the ventral margin thin, rounded, gradually narrowed to the body; body darker, densely patulous-pubescent, bearing 1 or more cristate, lateral ap-pendages 2-4 mm long, if several one is usually broader with 1 or more narrower crests borne on its inner edge from near the base.
