Prostrate to straggling or erect, rather weak-stemmed shrubs to 0.5 m high. Young stems sparsely to moderately pilose with slender, flexuose hairs over a sparse to dense pubescent underlayer of shorter, straighter hairs. Leaves sessile, spreading, scattered, obovate (rarely elliptic), (3–) 4–10 (–25) mm long, (1.5–) 3–5 (–12) mm wide; margins narrowly recurved, entire or with a few obscure to prominent teeth in the upper one-third; adaxial surface sparsely to moderately pilose at least when young with long, ± straight, simple hairs over a sparse to moderate tomentum of short, ± erect, simple hairs, the longer hairs tending to wear off on older leaves; abaxial surface as for the adaxial, but the short hairs tending to be sparser (often restricted to the midrib) and the long hairs more persistent; apex obtuse to subacute. Flowers single, axillary, on slender, flexuose pedicels (5–) 10–25 mm long that have an indumentum as for the young shoots. Bracts 2–5, at the base of the pedicel, broadly ovate-acute, c. 1–2.5 mm long, reddish-brown, scarious, glabrous except for short hairs along the distal midrib and often a ciliate margin; primary and secondary bracts similar. Sepals ovate to triangular, 2.5–4 mm long, pilose with moderately dense, long, spreading hairs over a dense tomentum of short hairs, glabrous adaxially except for some short, appressed hairs towards the apex; midribs not prominent; outer sepals shortly acuminate; inner sepals similar in size and indumentum to the outer but broader, usually obtuse to apiculate and with a broad, glabrous, scarious margin; buds shortly rostrate. Petals 5, yellow, narrowly obovate to obovate, 6.5–8.5 mm long, emarginate to ± entire. Stamens 16–24, in 3 groups between, and not closely appressed to, the carpels, free; filaments 1–1.6 mm long; anthers rectangular, 1–1.4 mm long, dehiscing by very short, apical, longitudinal slits; staminodes absent. Carpels (2) 3; ovaries compressed-globular, glabrous; styles spreading excentrically from the carpel apex, 1.3–2.5 mm long. Ovules 2 per carpel. Seeds not seen.
