Shrub to 1.6 m high. Branchlets with stellate hairs (sparse and of one class, the hairs coarse, 0.3–0.7 mm long, often on tubercles), aculei (0.75–1.75 mm long) and glandular hairs. Stipules ± persistent (but only youngish plants seen), subulate to very narrowly triangular, 7–14 mm long. Climax leaves: petiole 60–110 mm long, the indumentum ± similar to that of the branchlet (aculei less common on the petiole, with a longitudinal band of stellate hairs on the adaxial surface); lamina generally circular, shallowly 3-lobed (lobes as long as wide to shorter than wide and with apex acute to obtuse), 135–165 mm long, 130–175 mm wide, truncate to cordate base, serrate margin, discolorous (very weakly so with abaxially slightly browner than the somewhat greenish adaxial surface), indumentum denser on abaxial surface, with fine and coarse stellate hairs as well as glandular hairs (the stellate hairs scattered to moderately dense, the fine hairs 0.15–0.5 mm long, the coarse hairs 0.4–1 mm long). Distal leaves reduced in size, lamina narrowly elliptic or ovate. Foliar nectary 5–8 mm above the lamina base, 6–8 mm long. Flowers solitary in leaf axils or sympodial in few-to several-flowered terminal and/or distal-axillary racemoid axes, pedunculate; peduncle 10–43 mm long, with sparse coarse stellate hairs and sometimes also with a few fine stellate hairs; pedicel 10–31 mm long, with indumentum dissimilar to that of the peduncle (the stellate hairs moderately dense and the aculei few to several); epicalyx with a few fine stellate hairs and moderately dense slender straight aculei, 14–16-segmented, the segments free at the base, linear, incurved, 1.25–1.5 times the length of the calyx, 25–37 mm long, 1–3-veined; calyx at anthesis 20–24 mm long, the indumentum yellowish, with stellate hairs and with or without a few straight slender aculei, stellate hairs very dense with fine and coarse hairs present; calyx nectaries absent; petals 60–80 mm long, pink with the proximal region reddish (open flowers not seen). Capsule 15–20 mm long, densely hairy, the simple hairs not appressed (ascending, at a 45-degree angle relative to capsule surface), with a background of fine stellate hairs; beak not conspicuous, c. 0.5 mm long, glabrous. Seeds angular-reniform, c. 4 mm long, striate, without pectinate scales.
