Climax leaves: petiole to c. 14 cm long, densely stellate-pubescent, sometimes aculeolate (the aculei not exceeding the stellate hairs in length); lamina broadly to very broadly ovate, shallowly 3-lobed, to 15 cm long and 19 cm wide, cordate base, serrate-crenate margin, acute apex, concolorous, densely stellate-pubescent on both surfaces. Distal leaves progressively reduced, ultimately sessile, broadly ovate, unlobed. Foliar nectary absent. Flowers solitary in the upper leaf axils; pedicels c. 8 mm long, articulated at the base, densely stellate-pubescent; epicalyx densely stellate-pubescent, 10–13 segments, free at the base, spatulate, to 20 mm long, 4–6 mm wide; calyx lobes ovate, 25–30 mm long (to 45 mm long in fruit), densely stellate-pubescent, nectaries absent; petals c. 7 cm long, pink, weakly stellate-pubescent on both surfaces; staminal column c. 25 mm long, with glandular hairs, the filaments distributed throughout its length, 1.5–2 mm long; style branches 3 mm long.
