Characteristics

Leaf-lamina 2–6 × 0·3–2 cm., lanceolate to linear-oblong, stellate-pubescent to stellate-pilose on both surfaces, somewhat scabrid, apex acute, margin serrate, base obtuse to rounded 3–5-nerved; petiole up to 15 mm. long; stipules 4–6 mm. long, filiform.

Flowers 1·5–3 cm. in diam., red, solitary, axillary and forming racemes or panicles at the apices of the stems by reduction of the upper leaves; peduncle up to 3·5 cm. long, hairy like the stems, articulated 5–8 mm. below the apex.
