Characteristics

Perennial herb or shrublet, 0.01-2.00 m high; appressed stellate-hispid. Leaves relatively small, broadly ovate to suborbicular, often 3-lobed, apex rounded, margins serrate, base obtusely cuneate, 3-5-nerved, stellate-hispid. Flowers axillary, solitary; peduncles up to 35 mm long, articulated ± 10 mm below apex. Epicalyx of 7 filiform bracts. Calyx with lobes elliptic-triangular, joined at base, pubescent. Petals reflexed, obovate, stellate-pilose outside, white turning pinkish to purplish. Staminal tube 6-8 mm long; filaments ± 0.5 mm long. Flowering time summer. Fruit a subglobose capsule. Seeds with white or brownish silky floss.
