Characteristics

Much-branched shrub up to about 1.5 m. tall; bark grey or brown.. Leaves small, spathulate, up to 11 mm. long and 4 mm. wide, narrowly obtuse at the ± mucronulate apex, cuneate at the base, sparingly pilose, borne on pubescent arrested cushion-shoots and on elongated shoots.. Male flowers 1–4 per dwarf cushion shoot, on pedicels up to 3.5 mm. long.. Sepals subequal, about 2 mm. long; outer orbicular; inner slightly smaller, elliptic, blunt, pubescent outside.. Corolla 6 mm. long, 4-fid to the middle; lobes ± hairy outside; styles 5 mm. long.. Female flowers 2–3 together, on pedicels 6 mm. long.. Outer sepals broadly elliptic, 6 mm. long, sparsely hairy, adnate to the pedicels in lower third; inner elliptic, 3 mm. long, 2 mm. wide, blunt.. Corolla as in ♂ flower.. Styles 5 mm. long.. Capsules globose, 4–4.5 mm. in diameter, 4-seeded, on pedicels up to 13 mm. long, surrounded by enlarged straw-coloured sepals; outer orbicular, 11 mm. in diameter, basally acutely decurrent to almost cordate; inner 8 mm. long, 4.5 mm. wide..
